A Whole New World Has Begun!

I wanted to dedicate a site just for my child, something what will grow as she grows, something that she will one day read for herself.

"One Step, Two Step..."

Guess who was caught climbing the steps...You guessed it! Last night Jayden was playing on the floor near the kitchen table while I was in the putting the dishes away. Then it got real quiet so I turned around to see what Jayden was doing. She had quietly crawled over to the front stairs and proceeded to climb up to the 4th step to chase Memnon (whom doesn't even like her). Mommy was a bit nervous to say the least since she doesn't even know how to climb back down. Jayden, my little dare devil!!

This past weekend (01/29 Jayden is now 9 months old) we were able to get pictures of Jayden climbing up the steps...don't worry, mommy was right behind her making sure she didn't slip. We also started to teach her to go down the steps backwards.

(beginning) (going higher) (almost there) (at the top!)

"Being Sick Doesn't Stop This Kid"

Jayden has been on antibiotics for the past 3 weeks, going on 4 weeks. The poor thing is just miserable with a cough, sneezing, runny nose, diarrhea and the newest is the bad diaper rash that developed! It's actually a catch-22 really, the antibiotic is to kill what she has but it's causing the diarrhea which is causing the diaper rash!! However, being sick doesn't seem to stop Jayden from learning new things...Jayden loves playing with the moracas (?spelling) that grandma and grandpa got her for Christmas! (This is a toy that stays at grandma's house, hehe)

Jayden has also developed an interest in books and magazines. Especially magazines because she can rip the pages apart. But occasionally you can find her sitting back and enjoying the pictures... or who really knows what she is doing...
looks like she's reading to me...but hey, I'm just the overly anxious mother!

Finger foods are another new thing for Jayden. On Sunday we introduced her to the wonderful world of Cheerios! At first she didn't know what to do with them, she just played around with them for a bit until grandma put one one a spoon and fed it to her. Mommy, daddy and grandpa each grabbed a handful to show Jayden how to eat them. Guess she thought they were the cat's food that we've been teaching her "no touch".

Daddy and I have started using sign language with Jayden for simple things like eat, drink, bottle, milk, cat and sleep. We realize it may take a couple months for her to catch on but in the long run it may help to close the gap on the communication between us!

She Finally Said It!!!

My little girl has finally said Ma-Ma!!

Ringing in the New Year...Jayden Style!

Well, things didn't go as planned
but you need to be flexible when you have
an 8 month old.
We were supposed to go to a friends house to bring in the New Year. That didn't happen. What did happen was Jayden decided to fight her nap all day (as usual when mommy is home) and didn't fall asleep until 4:30pm. She didn't wake up until 6:45pm (the party started at 7pm) and still needed a bath to get all the spinach out of her hair from lunchtime. She didn't like the spinach. So, last minute, mommy and daddy decided to stay home give Jayden her bath, her dinner, play abit longer and finally bed. Quickly mommy made a hat out of a Christmas bag and wrote "Happy New Year 2006" on it and put it on Jayden! We said good night and put her to bed. At midnight, mommy and daddy quietly went up to Jayden's room and wished her a Happy New Year!! What an exciting year it's going to be too...Jayden is starting to 'cruise' up and down the couch!
