Serving on A Jury
Every three years (or so) we all seem to get that dreaded summons in the mail for Jury Duty. This year was no different for Mommy...or was it? Mommy received her Jury Duty summons in the usual fashion this year but there was one thing different. Mommy actually got picked to be on a real jury! The trial lasted for 3 days in the middle of July. It was an interesting case...it was a civil lawsuit case of a car accident in which we, the jury, had to listen to the evidence and then decided guilt (or not) and determine an amount of award. In the end, we could not find the defendant guilty, he did nothing wrong...this ment we could not award any monies.
It was an interesting and eye opening experience for Mommy...the next time a Jury Duty comes in the mail...it won't seem as a burden but actually doing my civil duty!
